Donation gives Penn veterinary school an equine teaching tool
A fully constructed horse skeleton will enhance equine teaching at the university?s School of Veterinary Medicine.
University of Pennsylvania veterinary students have a new learning tool thanks to a recent donation. Drs. Bill Moyer and Harry Werner donated a fully constructed horse skeleton to the New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, Penn., in memory of former New Bolton Center farrier Jack Anderson.
Drs. Moyer and Werner acquired the skeleton in a raffle at the American Farrier's Journal Annual Hoof Summit Conference. Farrier Walter Varcoe and his client donated the skeleton to the conference for instructional use.
Dr. Moyer is the incoming president of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) and the former head of outpatient services at the New Bolton Center. Dr. Werner is the outgoing president of AAEP and is an alumnus of the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
