New therapy approved for control of canine atopic dermatitis

FDA OKs injectable form of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory
January 1st 2004The U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted marketing approval for Metacam Injectable, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), made by Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica (BI) and being distributed by Merial. Coupled with Metacam Oral Suspension, the injectable offers an effective source for relief of pain associate with canine osteoarthritis, the company says.
DVM faces AVMA probe into chipper euthanasia

SCVMA survey says majority haven't changed protocols
December 1st 2003Los Angeles-The Southern California Veterinary Medical Association's (SCVMA) Pulse magazine reports that 64.4 percent of member DVMs surveyed recommend routine vaccinations annually for dogs. Another 31 percent recommend routine vaccinations every three years for dogs.
