3 veterinary students win grants to study animal behavior, human-animal bond

- Three veterinary students from Texas A&M University won 2008 grants provided by the Morris Animal Foundation (MAF.)

The grants were awarded to fund research on animal behavior and the human-animal bond.Traci Bond, Lisa Pina and Stephanie Coffey were selected as MAF Veterinary Scholars based on their research proposals as judged by veterinary health professionals.

Bond and Pina received their grants from P&G Pet Care/Iams, based on the human-animal bond and how it can affect the adoptability of shelter animals.

Coffey's award, sponsored by the R.K. Anderson Behavior Research Endowment, was based on improving animal life through improving animal behavior.
