Because ultraviolet light can cause oxidation, hydrolysis and loss of potency to sensitive medication in solutions, the IV cover bags are essential to ensure the patient is receiving the correct level of medication, the company says.
The Nultraviolet bag is placed over the infusion container and can be used as usual.
The bags are manufactured from ultraviolet inhibitant polyethylene. The bags are 100-percent effective, the company adds. The bags are less expensive than amber light-resistant glass containers and less cumbersome than foil wrapping.
The bags come in five sizes ranging from 8 in. by 14 in. to 11 in. by 18 in.
