Schaumburg, Ill. -- The head of the American Veterinary Medical Association's (AVMA) Animal Welfare Division recently earned the honor of becoming the first U.S. veterinarian credentialed in animal welfare.

-- The head of the American Veterinary Medical Association's (AVMA) Animal Welfare Division recently earned the honor of becoming the first veterinarian credentialed in animal welfare.
Dr. Gail Golab traveled to the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists' (ACVSc) Animal Welfare Chapter, where she earned membership July 3. Australia is the only country that offers an animal welfare certification for veterinarians.
Golab is the only American member of the ACVSc and earned the certification after completing two years of study, as well as passing written and oral exams.
