DAVIS, CALIF. - 9/21/05 - The Association of Veterinarians for Animal Rights (AVAR) plans to send 20 DVM members to assist shelters taking in displaced animals from the Gulf Coast region.
DAVIS, CALIF. - 9/21/05 - The Association of Veterinarians for Animal Rights (AVAR) plans to send 20 DVM members to assist shelters taking in displaced animals from the Gulf Coast region.
The veterinarians from across the country are rotating on week-long volunteer stints at temporary relief shelters for hurricane victims.
AVAR is paying the travel costs for veterinarian members associated with the relief effort. The group is accepting donations to help cover costs of the mission. Contributions can be sent to AVAR at P.O. Box 208, Davis, CA 95617 or visit the group's Web site at www.avar.org.
