Becker brings 'late night'-style show to CVC Kansas City

Article

Fear-Free Friday features monologue, special guests and the Fear-Free Band.

Marty Becker, DVM, a frequent dvm360.com contributor who makes regular appearances on The Today Show and Dr. Oz as “America’s Veterinarian,” will be hosting a TV talk show-style event Friday, Aug. 23, during CVC Kansas City. His focus? Taking the “pet” out of “petrified” and keeping pets calm and relaxed during veterinary visits. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for hors d’oeuvres and drinks with the “show” starting at 7 p.m.

Becker will give an opening monologue and then interview three guests during the evening’s event, which is free to CVC attendees and qualifies for one hour of CE credit. The Fear-Free Band will provide music. The guests will be:

> Margie Scherk, DVM, DABVP (feline), a feline practice specialist. (See a video on cat carrier tips from Scherk here.)

> Tony Buffington, DVM, PhD, DACVN, a nutritionist at Ohio State University who has conducted pioneering research on enriching indoor pets' lives. (See an article about his "clipnosis" calming technique here.)

> Mikkel Becker, Marty Becker’s daughter and a dog training expert.

Here’s a video of Becker describing Fear-Free Friday:
