Blackwell Publishing introduces "Physiology and Behaviour of Animal Suffering," part of the UFAW/Blackwell Animal Welfare Series.
The book explores the different causes of suffering, the responses of the body that lead to suffering and other insight into the management of suffering.
Author Neville Gregory, an expert in applied welfare, thoroughly examines the bodily processes surrounding distress and suffering, the company says. In the first book of its kind, Gregory focuses primarily on the physiological, rather than behavioral, mechanisms linked to suffering.
Students in animal welfare, animal physiology, animal science and veterinary medicine will find the book useful, the company adds.
