Pharmacia Animal Health introduces the DARTSM assessment program for managing bovine respiratory disease (BRD). The hospital-pen monitoring assessment looks at four areas: depression, appetite, respiratory index and temperature.The DARTSM assessment is part of the Durable CureSM BRD management program, which significantly reduces a feedyards repull rate by treating cattle long enough so they are able to quickly return to a healthy, productive state equal to that of their penmates, the company says. The program includes accurate and specific identification of BRD, proper evaluation, using the DARTSM assessment and treatment and thorough re-evaluation prior to leaving the hospital pen, the company says. Proper assessments for BRD include appetite, respiration, temperature and depression evaluations, the company says.
