Vira Shield 6+L5 contains Noncytopathic (NCP) Type 1, NCP Type 2 and Cytopathic (CP) Type 1.
In addition, to BVD Type 1 and Type 2, the new combination protects against IBR, PI, BRSV and incorporates five-way lepto to protect against reproductive diseases. This combination is also available with H. somnus.
The vaccine is recommended for use in heifers that are two months away from calving and in cows at dry-off to build antibodies in the dam prior to calving and lactation. For prebreeding heifers that are 12 months old, Vira Shield 6+L5 can be used to boost immunity right before the challenges of the first breeding cycle. Vira Shield 6+L5 also can be used in dairy calves to protect against respiratory diseases.
The new product is approved for subcutaneous-only administration and complements dairy health programs supporting dairy quality assurance. It contains the proprietary Xtend? SP adjuvant technology for higher immunity over a long period of time.
