Testing for NT-proBNP is recommended for all dogs age 6 and older as well as high-risk breeds, the company says.
In an independent clinical study, NT-proBNP was shown to be elevated by more than 10-fold in dogs with heart disease. NT-proBNP is the preferred biomarker over BNP, the active hormone, as it has higher stability and hence higher values in disease states, the company adds.
