Synbiotics Corp. introduces Ovucheck® Premate Equine, a semi-quantitative ELISA test for the measurement of progesterone in one drop of blood. The test can be used on-site to give information regarding the presence or absence of a functional corpus luteum in mares.
The kit has high sensitivity and specificity for progesterone levels. The quality of progesterone present is indicated by a color change, which is compared to low, medium and high progesterone standards.
The kit provides essential equine reproductive diagnostic information when the genital examination of the mare is equivocal and when the mare does not show regular estrus cycles.
The kit can be used to evaluate the presence of anovulatory follicles and to confirm ovulation. The kit can also be used to monitor the first trimester of high-risk pregnancies and maximize the pregnancy rate during embryo transfer programs.
