In this episode of The Vet Blast Podcast, Dr Adam Christman is joined by Emily Singler, VMD, who shares her experiences juggling relief veterinary medicine and motherhood.
Emily Singler, VMD, discussed what it's like to be a relief veterinarian with IndeVets during these times and at this stage of her career. She explained the benefits of flexibility and how that contributes positively to a work-life balance.
"You do get to set your own schedule. I'd been working every other Saturday for 14 years and was like, 'You know what? I'm not missing anymore baseball games,'" said Singler. "I'm not going to work Saturdays anymore unless I want to, unless I feel like there's a shift I really want to take or we need the extra income.
On taking control of her own schedule, she added, "That was just huge for me and my family, [to be able] to say, 'I'm going to make this decision. I don't have to ask anybody else if it's ok.' Having that level of control was a huge win for us."
