Two veterinary students displaying extraordinary effort and commitment in accelerating feline care will be awarded $2500 each.
EveryCat Health Foundation and the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) have announced that applications are open for two $2500 scholarships for third- or fourth-year veterinary students. The scholarships are awarded to students based on academic achievement, financial need, leadership, and excellence in feline medicine studies.
“For 6 years, our organizations have offered $2500 scholarships to veterinary students with an interest in feline medicine or clinical scientific research,” said Jackie Jaakola, executive director at EveryCat Health Foundation, in an organizational release. “We are thrilled to partner with the AAFP again to provide these two scholarships to future veterinarians.”
Interested students can apply by submitting a short application form on the EveryCat Health Foundation or AAFP website. Additionally, students are required to answer 2 essay questions that detail their specific interests and experience in feline health and welfare, plus their goals in pursuing feline medicine. The applications will be reviewed, chosen, and approved by both organizations.
“We recognize the important role veterinary students play in elevating feline medicine,” expressed Heather O’Steen, CAE, CEO of the AAFP.
“It is vitally important to provide our future feline veterinarians with the resources and support needed to improve the veterinary experience for cat caregivers and veterinary staff alike," she concluded.
Students enrolled in accredited veterinary schools in the US and Canada are eligible for the scholarship. The application and essay submission deadline is March 19, 2022, and the winning recipients will be notified on or before April 25, 2022.
