After surviving a clinic fire, Ziggy the clinic cat finds a secluded spot to recover.
If Ziggy the cat could talk, he'd have a heck of a story to tell. As the clinic cat at Canton Veterinary Hospital in Canton, Ohio, 6-year-old Ziggy usually doesn't have days as hectic as Dec. 1, when a fire broke out at the clinic, causing about $40,000 in damages, according to the Canton Repository. After firefighters extinguished the blaze, Ziggy was nowhere to be found.
Practice owner Dr. Richard Wade feared Ziggy might have bolted out the front door as firefighters moved in and out. He put food in the clinic hoping the feisty cat would make an appearance. Dr. Wade also notified local residents to be on the lookout for Ziggy.
Just when it appeared all hope was lost, Ziggy left his mark, so to speak. Dr. Wade found cat feces by the front door on Dec. 3 and began searching the clinic. He checked Ziggy's typical hiding spots and finally found him—covered in soot and cowering—in the back corner of the pharmacy.
After a good bath and some rest0, Ziggy was back to normal and ready to greet clients. He got his chance when the clinic reopened after workers repaired the damage.
