IDEXX introduces a new in-house lactate test for use with the VetTest®, Chemistry Analyzer.
Veterinarians can be better prepared to diagnose, treat and monitor emergency and critical-care patients, the company says.
The level of lactate levels can be measured and a quantative assessment of tissue perfusion can be performed. Measuring serial blood lactate concentrations can be clinically useful in any disease state that causes hypoperfusion, including hypovolemic shock, septic shock, cardiogenic shock and gastric-dilatation volvulus.
The lactate test is valuable for any patient in shock or showing signs of hypoperfusion, the company adds.
The test offers plasma results in eight minutes allowing veterinarians to make decisions on fluid therapy.
