St. Paul, Minn.
- A charitable foundation established by the American Association of Bovine Practioners (AABP) in September 2006 has been given the green light by the Internal Revenue Service.
The IRS approved the AABP Foundation as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in March. The foundation was set up with $200,000 in seed money by the AABP and private pledges now can be accepted, according to the group. AABP members also will have the option of adding donations to their annual dues or conference registration forms.
The goal of the foundation, according to the AABP, is to hasten the transfer of donated funds toward research, educational programs and student scholarships.
A Web site for the foundation is in the works. In the meantime, more information about the fund can be found at www.aabp.org.
