Charleston, S.C. - Bald eagles feeding on euthanized pets and strays that arelegally disposed in landfills are becoming sick and dying in South Carolina.
Within the past three years, at least 16 bald eagles were confirmedto have eaten pentobarbital, which is used to euthanize cats and dogs,according to the South Carolina Center for Birds of Prey.
Five died from consumption.
A group of government and private organizations are assessing thesituation.
