Changing terminology makes sense for the profession.
Regarding the recent commentary “It's time for technicians to be called ‘veterinary nurses'”: This is a no-brainer. I have been managing clinics for nearly 15 years and I have always referred to technicians as veterinary nurses. I used the term when I was working as a tech. The description “veterinary nurse” more accurately describes the job, functions and care that technicians do and provide.
