Los Angeles - 10/22/07 - Literally 'racing' for the cure, a $30-million canine cancer campaign logo adorned the hood of a vehicle participating in the biggest race of the year for NASCAR.
The Morris Animal Foundation Canine Cancer Campaign was featured on the hood of the Pets Best #61 ShelterBest, Save Pets NASCAR vehicle. Part of the NASCAR Grand National Series, more than 20,000 race fans and 125 million television viewers watched the Pets Best car place eighth in the Toyota All Star Showdown at Irwindale Speedway, Calif.
Having already pledged $1 million to the 5-year program, Pets Best is helping fund clinical trials to develop treatments for dogs currently battling cancer, in addition to studies aimed to increase prevention, treatment and cures for human cancers--particulary childhood cancers.
To support pet families and encourage more cancer care and treatments, Pets Best teamed with Oncura Partners , an online cancer consultant, to provide pet owners, through their current DVM, with a free cancer specialist consultation. Pet families can learn more about the offer by visiting the Pet Cancer Foundation web site .
"We think this will translate into more pets receiving care that will cure their cancer or extend their quality of life," says Greg McDonald, Pets Best CEO.
Other sponsors of the MAF initiative include Pfizer , the Golden Retriever Foundation and Camp Bow Wow .
