Pet underarm thermometer promotes health and emotional wellbeing
Mella Pet Care—the makers of the first accurate pet underarm thermometer—has publicized that its Mella Smart Thermometer has been approved by Fear Free for the Preferred Product Program (PPP).
“You have the perfect product for Fear Free. What you’re doing is both health and emotional wellbeing,” said Marty Becker, DVM, Fear Free founder and chief professional relations officer, commenting on Mella Smart Thermometer.1
Because pets’ temperatures are typically taken rectally, it tends to be the worst part of veterinary visits as it causes fear and anxiety for the pet. Thus, Anya Babbitt, co-founder and CEO of Mella Pet Care, was inspired to launch the company with the understanding that taking temperatures at each visit is integral for proactive healthcare. Plus, she wanted to discover a simpler, less-invasive method for measuring her 14-year-old Shit-tzu's temperature.
“Fear Free is a vital initiative for our industry as vets and parents are searching more than ever for products that take their pets' wellbeing into account,” said Anya Babbitt.
“We are thrilled to be further involved through the Fear Free Preferred Product Program. This is an important milestone for Mella as we continue to bring new solutions to market," she added.
According to the release,1 Mella’s Thermometer was assessed by Gary Landsberg, DVM, DACVB, DECAWBM (CA), his team, and various Fear Free Certified Professionals as part of the approval process. The PPP offers Fear Free Certified Professionals and Practices access to products and services that support Fear Free protocols, procedures, and recommendations.
What’s more, as part of its participation in Fear Free’s Preferred Product Program, Mella is providing a 10% discount to Fear Free Certified Professionals and Practices.
