Morris Animal Foundation initiates campaign to solve animal health puzzles

Morris Animal Foundation is launching a 2-month campaign aimed at helping the Foundation fund scientific research to solve today's complex animal health puzzles. The campaign begins today and runs through the end of the year.

"Morris Animal Foundation has a long history of funding studies leading to new diagnostics, preventives, treatments and even cures for life-threatening diseases in pets and wildlife," says Tiffany Grunert, Morris Animal Foundation President and CEO, in an organizational release.

"But many animal health puzzles still need to be solved. A gift to the Foundation during our end-of-year campaign will help us find the missing pieces animals need to live their best lives," Grunert added.

The Foundation's Board of Trustees is matching all gifts, up to $200,000, through the end of the year (December 31, 2021) to kickstart the campaign. The matching gift allows donors to double the impact of their donation and fund even more critical animal health studies.

The Foundation will use gifts donated this holiday season to help fund more than 150 active animal health studies. These studies include:

• evaluating a novel therapy for oral cancer in cats
• developing gene-editing tools for heart disease in dogs
• investigating a novel treatment for persistent infections in horses
• pinpointing the cause of a chronic wasting syndrome in mountain gorillas
