Nature's Deli Chicken Dog Treats recalled for Salmonella

Kasel Associated Industries of Denver, Colo., issued a voluntary recall of its Nature’s Deli Chicken Jerky Dog Treats due to a risk of Salmonella. According to the company, the recalled treats were distributed to 57 Sam’s Club locations in Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming.

The recalled product is marked with the UPC bar code 647263800208 and is marked BEST BY 091913 DEN. The chicken jerky product comes in a clear plastic bag and contains 2.5 pounds of treats. Though no illnesses have been reported at this time, the lot code recalled did test positive through analysis during a U.S. Food and Drug Administration routine sampling. The chicken used in Nature's Deli Chicken Jerky Dog Treats is produced by domestic farmers and processed in Denver, Colo.

Consumers can return the recalled product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Kasel Associated Industries will address consumer questions at (800) 218-4417 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. MDT Monday through Friday.
