LINCOLN, NEB. - 4/22/05 - Nebraska's agriculture Director Merlyn Carlson promoted Dr. Dennis Hughes to the position of state veterinarian.
LINCOLN, NEB. - 4/22/05 - Nebraska's agriculture Director Merlyn Carlson promoted Dr. Dennis Hughes to the position of state veterinarian.
"Dr. Hughes is an asset to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture," Carlson says in a prepared statement."We are pleased to have him serving in this capacity and leading Nebraska's animal health efforts into the future."
Hughes has been a veterinary field officer with the state's Department of Agriculture for the past 14 years. Prior to that, he owned a private practice in Battle Creek, Neb.
Hughes says he is eager to spearhead activities that will protect the state's livestock.
He is replaces Dr. Larry Williams, who retired in January.
