Schering-Plough Animal Health Corporation has introduced a new 500-mlpresentation of its popular M+Pac® vaccine for Mycoplasma hyopneumoniaein swine. The new presentation allows producers using one- or two-dose programsto vaccinate up to 250 pigs from a single bottle. When only one dose isrequired, pigs can be vaccinated at 6 weeks of age or older with 2 ml. Whena two-dose regimen of M+Pac is preferred, the product is labeled for vaccination7 to 10 days of age or older with 1 ml, followed by a booster 14 days laterwith l ml. Vaccination needs for M. hyo should be determined by the herdveterinarian but, generally, one dose of M. hyo vaccine may be appropriatefor pigs in herds or groups with a stable source of pigs, with good controlof age segregation and less disease challenge, the company says. Two dosesmay be necessary for pigs in herds or barns with multiple sources of pigsor the presence of other diseases such as PRRS and SIV, the company says.
