Bioproducts Inc. received a patent for its method of manufacturing fatty acid calcium salts from high glyceride content oils.The company says that to provide an effective bypass source of omega-3 fatty acids to a dairy cow requires identifying a high-quality, cost-effective method of converting oils to fatty acids and protecting them so they can be used in the small intestine of a cow.Delivering the effective amount of stable omega-3 fatty acids to the cow without affecting feed intake or milk fat is accomplished with this invention, the company adds.The newly patented calcium salt technology will provide customers with a scientifically validated and proprietary means of capturing the reproductive value of omega-3 fatty acids in high-producing dairy cows, the company adds.The company adds that research for Ener GII began more than one year ago.
