Solid Tech received licenses to produce and sell three cattle vaccine products.

These products, developed at SolidTech, incorporate the SoliDose® format — a patented technology used to produce color-coded vaccine pellets that are implanted under the skin of animals, or in pellets delivered remotely with a ballistic system to cattle in the field. Primary and booster doses now can be implanted at the same time, thus eliminating the need for revaccination at a later date. This is made possible by the IR/PR™ (immediate release/programmed release) process that controls the sequence of antigen release. Vaccine pellets are color-coded to identify the antigen and the release characteristic. They can be used in combination to create multiple antigen vaccines. Multiple doses can be administered simultaneously with only one application.

Dr. L.D. Barker, president of SolidTech says: "Biologicals in the SoliDose®form will revolutionize the way livestock producers and veterinarians administer vaccines to food-producing animals. These new systems cut labor costs by reducing animal handling, minimizing the number of trips through the chute, and limiting the amount of stress-related problems to both the animals and the processing crews. The benefit to the producer is increased profit through a more efficient and effective approach to animal health."

Solid Tech will initially supply its line of products to the cattle and swine industries. Development is under way for select companion animal products using the same technology.
