Novartis resumes distribution of veterinary products from Nebraska plant

— Novartis Animal Health is resuming the distribution and sale of a number of veterinary products from a plant in Nebraska.

Novartis stopped shipping products from the Nebraska plant in December 2011 to focus on system and process upgrades. Products impacted by the temporary stoppage included Interceptor® Flavor Tabs®, Sentinel® Flavor Tabs®, Clomicalm®, Program® Tablets and Suspension, and Milbemite®; as well as Interceptor, Sentinel and Program Tablets sold in Canada.

No veterinary products made at the Nebraska plant have been recalled, according to Novartis.

Rick Lloyd, general manager of Novartis Animal Health in North America, reports the company resumed shipping to veterinarians in the United States and Canada. The company says it worked with the U.S Food and Drug Administration to resume operations at the plant and is now managing inventory closely to “assure the best availability to veterinarians and pet owners.”
