Stephen Schumacher, a third-year veterinary student at The Ohio StateUniversity (OSU) and lead investigator, has teamed with Bill Saville, DVM,Ph.D., dipl. American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, epidemiologistin OSU's College of Veterinary Medicine, to find out.
The researchers say they hope that by combining their results with thosefrom Kentucky a more complete picture of the outbreak will emerge.
The Ohio investigators are working with Roberta Dwyer, DVM, MS, dipl.American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, from the Universityof Kentucky's Maxwell H. Gluck Equine Research Center in Lexington.
Frazer says Ohio researchers will correlate the data with the weatherpatterns from the past spring to take into account the terrain and managementpractices that differ from Kentucky.
