Practice tip: How to help homeless pets have a special holiday
Pets of the homeless need the basics, especially during the winter months.
Take a cue from volunteers and staff members at UC Davis’ William Pritchard Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and Mercer Veterinary Clinic and help brighten homeless pets’ holiday season. The group will fill about 130 boxes stuffed with gifts for pets of the homeless. Volunteers decorate the boxes and fill them with canned and dry food, treats, toys, leashes, and pet-care products. Good Samaritans donate money throughout the year so that the clinic can purchase the goods for the boxes.
Once the gift packages are assembled, employees will distribute them to homeless clients who visit the Mercer Veterinary Clinic for the Homeless with their dogs and cats during the month of December.
