Hill's Pet Nutrition Inc. introduces Prescription Diet® d/d® pet foods designed for pets with inflammatory skin conditions beyond those from adverse reactions to food.
The improved formulas are indicated to help manage allergic reactions to food or atopy due to dust, pollen, mold or flea allergy dermatitis.
The new Canine and Feline Prescription Diet d/d provide a more complete product portfolio and make d/d an ideal option for veterinarians in treating pets with many common dermatologic symptoms.
Clinical tests on new Prescription Diet d/d Canine Potato and Salmon, and Potato and Venison formulas were shown to help reduce many common inflammatory skin conditions in as little as four weeks, the company says. In this study, dogs fed d/d experienced less itching and skin redness, the company says.
Following this study, veterinarians reported that d/d improved erythema and lichenification conditions in more than 75 percent of dogs suffering from chronic, non-seasonal pruritic dermatitis. In addition, 70 percent of pet owners with dogs in the study were satisfied with their dogs' improvement.
The company reports 80 percent of owners report their pets liked the taste of the d/d formulas tested.
