ProLabs Ltd. introduces UriCon chewable tablets in a new size. The tablets contain phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride (PPA), the most commonly prescribed treatment for urethral sphincter mechanism incompetence in female dogs, the company says. To ease administration, UriCon chewable tablets are roughly half the size of other PPA chewable tablets of the same dosage strength, the company says. The 50-ml beef-flavored tablets are double-scored to allow for easy, accurate dosing for dogs of all sizes, the company adds. UriCon is packaged in two bottle sizes for tablet counts of 60 and 180. Published studies and years of use by veterinarians have shown PPA to be efficacious and safe at the recommended dose, the company says. ProLabs recommends dosing UriCon at 1.5 ml per kilogram of body weight administered orally twice a day or in a dose exceeding 3.0 ml per kilogram of body weight, the company says.
