St. Louis -- Nestle Purina PetCare is voluntarily recalling a limited number of Purina Vibrant Maturity 7+ Dry Cat Food products.

— Nestlé Purina PetCare is voluntarily recalling a limited number of Purina Vibrant Maturity 7+ Dry Cat Food products because of possible Salmonella contamination.
Nestle Purina reports the recall affects only a single production run that was shipped to 12 states in December 2010 with a “Best By” date of May 2012. Included in the recall are 3.5-pound bags with the production codes 03341084 and 03351084, and 7-pound bags with the production codes 03341084 and 03351084.
The affected products were distributed to California, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin. The products may have been distributed by third parties to other states, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
Purina became aware of the contamination as a result of samples collected is several retail stores.
Recalled products should be discarded, and Purina is offering product refunds at
purina.com
or by calling (800) 982-6559.
