As pets age, we want to provide the best care possible for them. This includes more frequent physical exams and diagnostic workups-with applicable medication-and diets and supplements for any issues they may be experiencing, such as osteoarthritis and renal dysfunction.

One key aspect of senior pet care is optimizing their quality of life, and part of that is keeping them as pain free as possible. This list focuses on items that enhance pet comfort, as many may be experiencing osteoarthritis.

Orthopedic bedding: Whether it's memory foam or includes a heating element, be sure to provide additional cushion for those old, cold bones.

Ramps and stairs: Struggling to get into bed or a vehicle can cause physical and emotional pain for your pet-ramps and stairs can help pets maintain their mobility.

Traction for slick flooring: Carpet or rug runners can greatly enhance a pet's ability to get around and decrease the chances of slipping. Another option is applying toe grips that increase the anti-slip traction needed to walk on slippery surfaces.
