Dr. Larry Rice was selected as the 2006 David E. Bartlett Award recipient and was honored at the SFT/ACT Annual Conference and Symposia held in St. Paul, Minn.
The Bartlett Award, sponsored by the American College of Theriogenologists (ACT) and the Society for Theriogenology (SFT), rewards a distinguished theriogenologist who has made important contributions to the field of theriogenology.
Rice is recognized for his efforts to "commercialize the skills, techniques and resources available to practitioners that applied theriogenology." He also invented the Rice Pelvimeter and has published extensively on heifer development and bull management.
Dr. Rice earned his DVM degree from Texas A&M's veterinary college in 1956 and became a diplomate of the ACT in 1977. In 1976 he began teaching and conducting research at Oklahoma State University.
