AgriLabs introduces a salmonella vaccine that has a conditional license through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The vaccine utilizes Siderophore Receptors and Porins (SRP) technology.
The Salmonella Newport Bacterial Extract vaccine contains highly purified extracts of special bacterial proteins (SRP), the company says. The proteins function to acquire nutrients such as iron from the host animal and transfer it to the bacterial cell, which uses it for growth and reproduction, the company adds.
When animals are immunized with SRP vaccines, they develop antibodies to the proteins, which blocks the transport of iron back into the bacterial cells, the company says.
