Co-owner and general manager at Heal Veterinary Clinic shared how both his practice and clients are reaping the benefits of the solar electric system.
Jamie Leef, co-owner and general manager at Heal Veterinary Clinic, explained that solar panels are an ideal way to save money on electric bills while fixing the cost of electricity. In an interview with dvm360®, Leef discussed the initial spark behind installing the solar electric system at the clinic and the benefits that followed.
“Solar panels are an excellent way to save money on electric bills...running [the] hospital, we were [previously] paying $8,000 a year or more in electricity bills," Leef told dvm360® staff.
"We had to replace the roof on the building so building a solar power plant on the new roof—they’re both going to have a roughly 20-year life—and so…the timing was kind of perfect," he said, adding that the solar electric system also enabled him to get tax credits and other incentives since he doesn’t have to worry about electricity price inflation.
Leef then highlighted how incorporating renewable energy at his practice helped bolster client relations locally.
“Where we are in the Cambridge, Massachusetts area, an investment in renewable energy is positively viewed by our clientele," he said. "So, there’s a lot of folks who really care about energy independence, helping deal with global warming, and from a marketing perspective…it’s something that really fits our values and it really aligns with the values of the clients that we have."
