The new partnership will allow qualified Fisher graduates direct admission to St. George’s Schools of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine.
Earlier this month, St. George’s University announced a new direct admission partnership with Fisher College students. Through the partnership and program requirements, Fisher graduates can gain immediate entrance to St. George’s Schools of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine with a granted scholarship.
"We are delighted to partner with Fisher College to help its most talented students pursue their dreams of becoming doctors," said G. Richard Olds, MD, MACP, president of St. George's University, in a university release.
According to the release, students interested in pursuing a career in either human or veterinary medicine can participate in a 4+4 program. This will allow them to attend St George’s to a 4-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) programs at St George’s.
To qualify, students must first complete all the prerequisites including their bachelor’s degree in biology. Through the 4+4, students will also receive a $10,000 scholarship from the program.
"We are excited to offer our students a seamless pathway to a career in medicine," said Steve Rich, president of Fisher College.
"Our direct admission partnership with St. George's University will ease some of the stress that students, particularly those from abroad, feel about applying to medical school," he continued.
All interested students must express their interest upon applying to Fisher and St. George’s will waive application fees for any accepted students and give them priority status for interviews and decisions.
Additionally, for St. George’s School of Veterinary Medicine, interested students must have a competitive score on the GRE and maintain a 3.2-grade point average. For Fisher University, students must then maintain a 3.4-grade point average and receive a competitive score on the MCAT.
