Need a new system to make sure callbacks happen? Joanne Bowman, RVT, a technician at Cottonwood Animal Hospital in Ottawa, Kan., uses plastic file baskets to hold each doctor's callback files in a central location. They're sorted by the date the patient was seen to help the team get back to pet owners promptly.

"Keeping each doctor's cases separate helps a doctor find current cases quickly," she says. "And because they're in a central location, other team members have the file on hand for reference when we talk to clients."

Clients appreciate the calls, and it helps encourage them to schedule rechecks or ask follow-up questions. "Now we don't spend time wondering how Fluffy's doing or trying to hunt down the file to call clients," she says.
