Veterinary Product Laboratories introduces Tissumend II Sterile, the only sterile synthetic absorbable tissue adhesive that effectively closes surgical wounds and internal tissues.
Tissumend II Sterile forms a quick, tough, durable bond for internal and external tissues that is non-reactive to intact and lacerated tissues. The product enhances healing with no leakage and can be used with or without sutures, the company says.
"This is the only sterile absorbable adhesive in the veterinary or human market," says Debra Nickelson, DVM, marketing manager for VPL. "It has been clinically studied in challenging surgical situations, such as lung and kidney closure. Surgeons may be confident of the holding power of the adhesive during the critical healing period on a variety of internal tissues."
The product is indicated for closure and sealing internal tissues, such as lungs, bronchial tubes, liver, pancreas, spleen and other internal organs, the company adds.
Tissumend II Sterile is available in prefilled pipettes to save time during surgery, the company says.
The product has been packaged under dry nitrogen for increased stability and shelf life, but should be refrigerated to retain optimum quality.
The product also is available with a MicroDose syringe to deliver the precise amount of adhesive desired.
