Universal Hospital Services, Inc. introduces Birch Point Medicals IontoPatch for transdermal drug delivery. Veterinary professionals experienced with, or interested in, iontopheresis will find that the IontoPatch offers several benefits over traditional devices which use external batteries and wires, the company says. With a self-contained battery, the IontoPatch extends drug delivery over a 24-hour period, shuts off automatically after the prescribed dose of 80 mA-min is delivered, and does not interfere with patients normal activities, the company says. The low current density of ~0.1 mA used by the IontoPatch is safer for the patient and comfortable, the company says.
