This year’s competition asks veterinary students to discuss the pros and cons of a distributed clinical education model, and veterinary teaching hospitals
VIN Foundation announced its 7th annual Solutions for the Profession Competition and is asking for students to take a closer look at the future of veterinary teaching hospitals. The competition is open to any currently enrolled veterinary student across the globe and challenges students to give innovative solutions to issues within veterinary medicine.
"The future of veterinary medicine is greatly impacted by the veterinary school curriculum. I am excited the VIN Foundation is encouraging veterinary students to consider how clinical training impacts the health of the veterinary profession and to share their ideas," expressed Jordan benShea, executive director of the VIN Foundation, in an organizational release.1
To enter the competition, students will have to discuss veterinary teaching hospitals and the pros and cons of a distributed clinical education model. Within the essay, students are asked to answer the following questions.2
To qualify for the competition, veterinary students are asked to write an essay with no more than 1,000 words in English and in a Microsoft Word format. The submitted essays will then go through 3 rounds of anonymized judging by experts in this topic area and then passed to 3 well-known leaders within the veterinary profession, where the winners will be selected. The first-place winner will receive $5,000, second place will win $3,000, and third place will receive $1,500.1
VIN Foundation will accept essays until Friday, January 20, 2023, and will announce the 3 winners on April 21, 2023.
