KeraVet Gel sees all-new branding ahead of nationwide launch

KeraVet Bio has announced the May 2025 nationwide launch of their product, KeraVet Gel, alongside a complete shift in their branding. The product, used as topical therapy for surgical incisions and wound therapy, supports faster wound healing and prevents licking. Clinicians nationwide will soon have access to KeraVet Gel as a treatment option for everyday surgical incisions and more complex wounds, according to the company.1

KeraVet Gel’s primary ingredient is keratin, produced with patent-protected technology. The product also includes a strong bitterant intended to prevent licking.1 Clinical studies by KeraVet Bio found patients treated with the product to have significantly less wound edema and chronic inflammation when compared to wounds treated with triple antibiotic ointment, and a reduction of licking behavior of 85% in dogs and 87% in cats.2

In addition to KeraVet Gel’s upcoming national launch, KeraVet Bio has announced a rebrand of the product. A new branding platform is meant to better align with the brand story and product inception, while the new logo portrays a shield and sutures as a nod to the product’s protective properties.1 The product is designed to protect patients, support improved healing times and outcomes, and defend against self-harming behavior, like licking and chewing.

“We were ready for a visual that better reflected the innovative and contemporary identity of the brand,” Luke Burnett, PhD, founder and CEO of KeraVet Bio, said in a news release.1 “We couldn’t be more pleased with the new brand approach.”

Upon KeraVet Gel’s initial release, in May 2024, the product was marketed as the long-awaited replacement for cone-shaped Elizabethan collars.3 After discovering the healing properties of keratin, KeraNetics, the parent company of KeraVet Bio, formulated a medical countermeasure to help humans suffering from radiation injuries and treatment. Aware of problems with e-collars, supplemental bandaging, and the tendency for animals to self-harm during recovery, the team at KeraVet Bio created KeraVet Gel to change the standard of wound and incision care in animals, according to the company.4

“The product is transformative, so the brand needed to reflect these powerful qualities,” John Nohe, CEO of JNA Advertising, the Kansas City-based agency behind KeraVet Gel’s branding efforts, said.1 “I think we struck the perfect balance of setting the product apart, while connecting with the veterinary audience.”
