ELMSFORD, N.Y.—AFP Imaging announces the new DigiVet 1417 whole-body computed radiography (CR) system, the latest addition to its veterinary product line. AFP has made this product economical and in a digital format to eliminate films, chemistry and darkrooms, the company says.

Computed radiography combines a reusable X-ray sensitive plate in place of film while producing high-quality digital images on a computer screen. By using the DigiVet, veterinarians can eliminate their darkrooms. Real-time imaging replaces chemicals and films, and helps increase patient throughput expanding the efficiency of the veterinary practice. Once acquired, the images can be enhanced, networked or e-mailed for greater medical analysis. All images can be stored in an image database, the company explains.

The DigiVet 1417 comes equipped with the CR scanner, two 14x17 whole-body plates and cassettes, a workstation including a new Pentium 4 computer, 19-in. LCD flat-screen monitor, CD burner and a software package using E-Film, a recognized industry leader in DICOM readers and viewers.
