Veterinary Product Laboratories (VPL) introduces Duralactin® Feline Liquid.
The product combines the anti-inflammatory effects of MicroLactin® with the added benefits of Omega 6 and Omega 3 fatty acids.
MicroLactin, the active ingredient in Duralactin, contains factors that appear to inhibit neutrophil participation in the inflammatory response and reduces the emigration of neutrophils to the site of inflammation.
The product is prescribed for cats for a variety of chronic inflammatory conditions, the company says.
The recommended dose for cats weighing 12 pounds or less is 5 mL, twice a day.
Each teaspoon contains 200 mg of MicroLactin, 198 mg omega 6 fatty acids and 90 mg omega 3 fatty acids. For cats weighing more than 12 pounds, the dose is three times a day, split between morning and evening, the company says.
Duralactin Feline Liquid comes in an 8-ounce bottle with 12 bottles per case. Each bottle is expected to treat an average weight cat twice a day for 24 days.
The product is also sold in non-flavored capsule form.
