Blue Buffalo and Evan Antin, DVM, have joined forces to educate pet owners on the signs and symptoms of their dog’s potential dietary issues, plus offer solutions to help make their dog healthier and happier.

“Nutritional modification can be an easy and effective approach to helping dogs who present with symptoms of dietary issues and skin sensitivities linked to diet,” explained Antin, in an organizational release. “That’s why it's important to be aware of what is typical for your pet when it comes to their digestion and nutritional needs, so you can address any issues with your veterinarian quickly. Pets are such important members of our families, and they deserve to live happy, healthy lives.”

Antin and Blue Buffalo released some tips to help pet parents better manage both their dog’s digestive and skin sensitivities1:

  • Hydration is important when it comes to a pet’s diet. Antin and Blue Buffalo recommend if they are experiencing digestive issues, give your pet ice chips to keep them hydrated.
  • A temporary bland diet containing lean chicken and rice or fat free cottage cheese and rice for 4 to 5 days following gastrointestinal symptoms can help pets with a sensitive stomach. A supplementation with canned pumpkin can also help sensitive stomachs and help indigestion.
  • A limited ingredient diet containing basic ingredients with a single animal protein source that contains no chicken, beef, dairy, or eggs can help pets with food sensitives. Blue Buffalo offers Omega 3 and 6 Fatty Acids in its BLUE Basics to help support coat, immune, skin health, and more.
