FORT COLLINS, COLO. — A new company called VetDC will serve as a new arm of Colorado State University (CSU) to develop and market new products for the veterinary market.
The company will serve as an intermediary between pet owners and veterinarians at the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital and will transition underused devices, tests and treatments from human-medicine into companion-animal medicine, according to CSU.
The primary focus of the company will be oncology treatments. In fact, the creation of VetDC was prompted by the signing of an agreement with Gilead Sciences to commercialize a new treatment for canine lymphoma, as reported in DVM Newsmagazine. VetDC also is researching a new glaucoma device to help prevent blindness in pets, CSU reports.
