Washington - 10/7/2005 - The first drug under the Minor Use and Minor Species Animal Health Act (MUMS) was recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
Florfenical has been designated for use in controlling conditions in four aquaculture species (catfish, hybrid striped bass, salmonids and tilapia).
The designation was made possible following the approval of MUMS in August 2004. The proposed rule governing the designation was published in the Federal Register on Sept. 27.
