FDA seeks VMAC nominations

Rockville, MD. - 10/1/07 - The Food and Drug Administration Center for Veterinary Medicine (FDA-CVM) wants nominations for voting members to serve on the agency's Veterinary Medicine Advisory Committee (VMAC).

Rockville, MD. - 10/1/07 - The Food and Drug Administration Center for Veterinary Medicine (FDA-CVM) wants nominations for voting members to serve on the agency's Veterinary Medicine Advisory Committee (VMAC).

CVM officials are looking for experts in the following veterinary specialties:

- companion-animal medicine

- food-animal medicine (avian, bovine, swine and minor species)

- microbial food safety and risk assessment

- biometrics

- toxicology

- pathology

- pharmacology

- animal science

- epidemiology

VMAC reviews and evaluates data concerning the safety and effectiveness of marketed and investigational animal drugs, feeds and devices use in the treatment and prevention of animal diseases and production. The advisory committee also makes recommendations to the FDA commissioner regarding scientific issues and regulatory policies.

Nominations must include the name of the committee and the complete curriculum vitae of each nominee with his or her business address, telephone number and e-mail address. The proposals must state that the nominee is aware of the nomination, is willing to serve and appears to have no conflict of interestthat would preclude membership. Potential candidates must provide detailed information concerning their financial holdings, employment and research grants or contracts.
