Hold a charity dog wash to give back to your community
Want to give back to the pets in your community and perhaps do a little marketing in the process? Consider holding a charity dog wash at your clinic.
The staff at Brooklyn Road Veterinary Clinic in Jackson, Mich., did just that and raised more than $100 for Jackson County Animal Control. A few weeks before the event, team members posted fliers in area businesses and contacted local media outlets. They also placed fliers in the exam rooms, posted information on the clinic's social networking profiles, and promoted the event during client visits.
The practice suggested a donation of $10 for a bath, $15 for a bath and nail trim, or $20 for a bath, nail trim, and ear cleaning. Clients also were offered a 15 percent discount on all grooming supplies. All visitors were welcome, and several non-clients participated in the event. The practice provided refreshments for pet owners and dogs, and team members socialized with clients while they waited.
Several team members worked the two-hour event, including veterinarians, receptionists, the office manager, the kennel manager, and a veterinary assistant. In addition to building a bond with existing clients, the practice may have recruited a new batch. "We saw several familiar faces and a few new ones as well," says office manager Candy Shannon. "We raised $120 and had a great time."
